Abstract

Research in our group revolves around biological and chemical sensors based on optical and electrochemical methods, with particular interest in their applications in clinical diagnosis, biological subcellular imaging, and environmental monitoring. We aim to create highly sensitive and selective sensing interfaces for a range of biologically and environmentally relevant species including inorganic ions, proteins, nucleic acids, and reactive species. In this regard, the physical transfer, chemical reactions, and nanoscale phase separation across the aqueous organic phase boundary play critical roles. This talk will cover our recent work on and fluorescent/Colorimetric nanoprobes and ionophore-based ion-selective electrodes. Target analytes such as blood electrolytes and reactive oxygen species will be highlighted.
