Established in 1996/97, the annual School of Science Awards aim to recognize faculty members and teaching track faculty, for their outstanding achievements in teaching, research or services. This year, the awards were presented by Prof. Yung Hou Wong, the Dean of Science, during the School Board Meeting on May 14, 2024 (Tuesday). The deserving recipients were greeted with a round of applause from their peers.
Prof. Emily Ming Wai Tsang, Assistant Professor of Science Education in the Department of Chemistry, has been awarded the School Teaching Award for her excellent pedagogical skills and significant contributions to curriculum development, student advising, and outreach. Prof. Junwei Liu, Associate Professor of Physics, has been awarded the School Research Award for his exceptional research achievements in condensed matter physics and quantum physics. Prof. David Karl Banfield, Professor of Life Science, has been awarded the School Service Award for his remarkable contributions to the Division of Life Science in various initiatives such as the Open Lab Project, the undergraduate program curriculum, and his contributions to the university in different roles.
