Speaker: Professor Wenping HU
Institution: Tianjin Key Laboratory of Molecular Optoelectronics, Tianjin University; Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences
Hosted by: Prof. Benzhong TANG
Abstract
High mobility (of/over amorphous silicon) organic functional materials are promising candidates with practical applications in the near future’s organic electronic industry. Remarkable progress has been made in developing high mobility organic functional materials, meeting the requirements of various electronic applications from electronic papers to integrated circuits. We have developed about 40 among the 150 organic functional materials with mobility over/comparable with amorphous silicon in the world. Here, we will summary the development of high mobility organic functional materials to provide guidelines for the design and synthesis of novel, high mobility organic functional materials.
About the speaker
Wenping Hu is a Professor of School of Science, Tianjin University, a Cheung Kong Professor of Ministry of Education and the winner of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (2007). He received his PhD from the Institute in 1999 (Supervisor: Prof. Daoben Zhu and Prof. Yunqi Liu). Then he joined Osaka University and Stuttgart University as a research fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences and Alexander von Humboldt, respectively. In 2003 he worked in Nippon Telephone and Telegraph (NTT), and then joined Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and was promoted to full professor. He acted as the Dean of School of Science of Tianjin University in 2013 and was promoted to vice president of the university in 2016. He served as a Visiting Scholar at Department of Chemistry, Stanford University in 2007, a Visiting Professor at Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore in 2013. He focuses on organic optoelectronics, and has published 4 books (Organic Optoelectronics for Wiley etc.) and more than 500 peer reviewed papers (including ~180 papers with IF>10) with citations over 22,000 times (H index=76). He worked as an Associate Editor of Polymer Chemistry (RSC, 2013-2016), and is a member of the editorial boards for several journals (e.g., Adv. Energy Mater., Adv. Electron. Mater., Chemistry – An Asian Journal, Nano Research.).
