Department of Mathematics - Seminar on Pure Mathematics - Random walk and homogenization in a balanced random environment
In this talk, we consider the model of random walks in a balanced random environment (RWBRE), a Markov chain that has zero effective speed, and its relation to the stochastic homogenization of non-divergence form difference equations, which concerns the convergence of t

OCES Departmental Seminar: Global overturning circulation constrained by tidal mixing map
Internal tides power much of the observed small-scale turbulence in the ocean interior. Here we present a global 3D map of tidal mixing that incorporates both the local and remote dissipation of internal tides. The map compares well with available mixing estimates across the globe.
