In collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the Department of Ocean Science hosted two days of insightful activities at HKUST as part of the French Science Festival on “Oceans of Knowledge” on October 6-7, 2024. The event delved into marine ecosystems and conservation through a variety of engaging activities.

The “Exploring Ocean Science at HKUST” event featured public talks, hands-on workshops on plankton and "Fish Printing," a Marine VR experience, and guided tours of HKUST's Ocean Research Facility. An exclusive dialogue between faculty from the Department of Ocean Science (the Department) and distinguished guests from the Consulate stimulated discussions on the latest research findings and opportunities in marine sciences.

The event culminated in a closing ceremony organized by the Department. Prof. Jianping Gan, the Head of Ocean Science, expressed gratitude to all participants and the Consulate for their invaluable support, significantly enhancing the Department’s mission to expand knowledge and foster international partnerships. The Department looks forward to future collaborations that promote scientific exchange.
