We are excited to have Dr Shuyu CHEN introduce some progress on product development using acoustic metamaterial technology and discuss the new trend of commercialization of advanced material technology using metamaterials as examples. Dr Chen is a Director of Acoustic Metamaterials Group.

Job types, ranging from product R&D to project management, will be introduced during the seminar.

All are welcome to join.

Details are as follows.

Date: 15 March 2023 (Wednesday)

Time: 3 - 4 pm

Venue: Chen Kuan Cheng Forum (Lecture Theatre H), HKUST

Host: Prof. Rui Zhang, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, HKUST

About the Speakers

Dr Shuyu Chen received his B.S. in physics from Zhejiang University in 2006 and Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from HKUST in 2011. He is an expert in commercializing advanced functional material technologies. In 2014, Dr Chen founded the Acoustic Metamaterials Group (AMG), the global industry leader in acoustic metamaterials. He also co-founded the local brand Raze. Dr Chen has been actively involved in Hong Kong’s innovation and re-industrailization. He and his team were acknowledged by several awards, including the Gold Medal with the Congratulations of Jury of the 45th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva; Hong Kong Awards for Industries Certificate of Merit: Technological Achievement (2019), and Equipment and Machinery Design (2021-22); Silver Medal of the 2022 International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva; HKUST 30in30, etc.
