Applicants taking English Language as their foreign language subject are not required to submit other proof of English language proficiency. 

 

For the applicants who do not take English Language as their foreign language subject, they should submit the recognized English tests scores (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL). Here are some of the English proficiency tests that can fulfill the English Language Admissions Requirements (ELAR):
IELTS: Overall band of 6.0 or above
TOEFL Internet-based test: 80 or above
SAT: Score of 590 or above in SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, or essay score of 8 or above in SAT Reasoning Test (pre-March 2016)
IGCSE/GCSE/GCE O-Level (prior to Summer 2017): Grade C or above in in English Language / English Literature; Grade B or above in English (Second Language)
IGCSE/GCSE/GCE O-Level (Summer 2017 and thereafter): Grade 4 or above in English Language / English Literature; Grade 5 or above in English (Second Language)
GCE AS or A-Level: Grade E or above in English
International Baccalaureate: Grade 4 or above in English A or English B (Higher Level); Grade 5 or above in English B (Standard Level); Grade 4 or above in English Literature and Performance (Standard Level)
